Early Messages Save Lives
The number of cancer deaths each year could be reduced by a staggering number. The impact can only be felt through changes that start with each one of us. We have the power to make positive changes in our lifestyle and behaviors to reduce our own risk - and volunteers are working to educate their family, friends and communities to adopt these changes. Education programs
which target all Fox Valley communities including diverse populations are listed
below:
Great American Smokeout is the national campaign that has provided inspiration to millions of Americans to quit smoking.
A smoker's chance of successfully quitting has doubled in the 25 years the Great American Smokeout
has been in place.
Great American Health
Check
The American Cancer Society's Great American Health Check is an
online assessment tool available at
www.cancer.org/greatamericans. The Health Check helps users
understand which early detection tests they should take to find
cancer early when treatment is more likely to be successful, or to
prevent cancer altogether. The Society believes that early detection
tests can help save lives and reduce suffering from many cancers.
